My first Lytro Illum video! I'm still teaching myself how to use the camera and all the included desktop software, but I think this one came out pretty nice. I've uploaded a few Living Picture samples from the trip under the video.
I just got this camera in today. It's purpose isn't really to replace my regular photography work, it is more of an alternative. This camera's gimmick is to create "Living Pictures." In post processing, I can create a little animation as seen in the video posted above. Which is what I plan to do for future hiking trips and put every shot into one longer video and post it here.
I can also upload the photo to Lytro's website and let the viewer play around with it however they'd like. I may do this for some of them. Here's that same picture again:

My first impressions on this camera is the quality isn't the greatest in the still shots, but 2D still shots isn't really the point of it. The build quality and onboard software is amazing and top notch, in my opinion. It looks very sleek and modern especially for its cheaper price.. And I am looking forward to trying it out this weekend with some better lighting - if it's not raining too badly.

Well, I don't really have anything interesting to say right now, other than it's finally nice to make use of this domain again for something other than my email.
The main reason for this site is to post the photos of all my random hiking adventures and walks. They're always a lot of fun, and I get to see some amazing things. I also want to get back into digital painting and game design, so this is the perfect hub for that as well.
I recently decided to delete all of my social media accounts. They were nice to have to keep in touch with friends and family, but at the same time I was just using them way too often and I just got sick and tired of it all. There's a lot of supportive people on there. However, there are also a lot of hurtful people. I'm not talking about my friends or family, just all of the random posts I see from businesses or websites, just reading the comments can be very hurtful and depressing. It is so refreshing to finally be away from all of that.
Anyway, as far as my photos go. I do want to post each one I take from each hike, usually unedited. Which, was normally what I'd do on Facebook. But, I really want to keep this site clean and post the ones I really like. Maybe a few tweaks from Lightroom in here and there. Which is the main reason I'm not going to dump every photo I've uploaded from Facebook onto here. That, and the downloaded photos from Facebook are garbage quality-wise. I'll have to dig out my old backup drive to see which ones I really like.
Thank you all so much for your support. I really appreciate it. I'm looking forward to keeping this site updated with new photos on a regular basis. I'm using Weebly for hosting. I'm sure there's some kind of storage limit - which I can't seem to find, but Google says 250mb? If I start running low on that, I'll probably delete some older stuff to make room for the new.
